Galvão vs. Murasaki Leads This Week’s Must Watch on the Road to the Crown
Two men who met in two 2024 finals share an eight-man Crown bracket on November 8. Start the build to Long Beach with the first of those finals.
Andy Murasaki chases a third straight middleweight title at the IBJJF Crown, and Mica Galvão is one of the seven men waiting for him in the bracket. After their Pans final, this week’s list catches up on the best new uploads from the official channels, from a former Crown champion’s ADCC Worlds opener to Mikey Musumeci against a UFC featherweight. A couple of them go the full distance, and they are worth every minute.
1. Galvão and Murasaki’s rivalry heads to the Crown
Mica Galvão vs. Andy Murasaki · Pan Championship 2024, middleweight final
Murasaki has won the last two Crown middleweight titles, and he warmed up for a third by winning medium heavy at the Houston Fall Open last weekend. The IBJJF just released a look inside his Crown camp, too.
Galvão returns after two years away from the IBJJF majors. The last time he entered them, he won the Europeans, Pans, Brasileiro and Worlds in one season, beating Murasaki in this final and again for the world lightweight title two months later. Our early look has the rest of the field.
2. A four-time world champion opens ADCC as the top seed
Diego Pato vs. Jakub Wikłacz · ADCC Worlds 2026, 66kg opening round
Diego Pato won the Crown featherweight title in 2024 by beating João Mendes, who is back in this year’s field, and he has won light feather at each of the last four World Championships. He arrived at ADCC Worlds last month as the No. 1 seed at 66kg, and Jakub Wikłacz was the first man in his way on a run that ended with bronze.
3. A jiu-jitsu champion vs. a UFC fighter
Mikey Musumeci vs. Bryce Mitchell · UFC BJJ 11, featherweight main event
Bryce Mitchell brought a UFC featherweight’s résumé and a jiu-jitsu black belt to his debut at UFC BJJ 11, and the main event put the MMA fighter across from Mikey Musumeci, the promotion’s bantamweight champion, under grappling rules. It went the full distance, and Musumeci took a unanimous decision to stay unbeaten in UFC BJJ. Keven Carrasco, one of the four men he submitted before this, is in the Crown featherweight field.
4. Seven-time world champion Mayssa Bastos takes on ADCC
Mayssa Bastos vs. Valerie Hamilton · ADCC Worlds 2026, women’s 55kg quarterfinal
Mayssa Bastos has won the last six world titles at rooster, and she added Pans and Brasileiro gold on her way to this year’s. The AOJ star took this ADCC quarterfinal from Valerie Hamilton, reached the semifinals and finished fourth after an overtime bronze match with Ana Mayordomo.
5. Crafty Vet Tommy Langaker meets ADCC Trials winner Eoghan O’Flanagan
Tommy Langaker vs. Eoghan O’Flanagan · Polaris 39, main card
Tommy Langaker has been on IBJJF world podiums since 2018, won the No-Gi world title at middleweight in 2023 and lost a 2022 world semifinal to Andy Murasaki. Eoghan O’Flanagan came to Polaris 39 three weeks after facing Felipe Pena in the ADCC Worlds absolute, and Langaker took the decision after a full main card match. The rest of the card is in our Polaris 39 results.
What comes next
The Pan Pacific Championship and the Pan Pacific No-Gi run in Melbourne from October 16 to 18, alongside three IBJJF Opens, two ADCC Opens and Fight to Win 328, all on this weekend’s page. The Crown follows on November 8 in Long Beach, and every event is on the calendar.
